Exceeding the MAXIMUM write speed of a SSD

Hi, i recently bought a SSD on eBay, The seller mentioned in the ad "write of up to 350MB/s" when the manufacture clearly states " write speed upto 200mb/s " , so i am confused about how can a SSD EXCEED the MAXIMUM write speed.

If you check the MAXIMUM speed write for this model SDSSDP-064G-G25 in this link : http://www.sandisk.co.uk/products/ssd/sata/standard/ ( Click on the specification button and look at the maximum write speed for this 64GB model ) it will say that 200 Mb/s is the maximum by the MANUFACTURE, so is it possible to EXCEED the MAXIMUM write speed ?

The seller said he got speed around 300Mb/s , so i am wondering if it is actually possible to EXCEED the maximum write speed.

Solution
Yes, it's "possible", but probably unlikely.

If the SSD was built with higher-than-normal quality NAND chips then a SSD can exceed advertised Read/Write speeds.

It also depends on what software the seller is using to test Read/Write speeds.

Compressible data is the easiest type of data for any SSD to Read or Write.
Incompressible data is the hardest type of data for any SSD to Read or Write.

If the advertised 200MB/s Write speed is with AS-SSD or CrystalDiskMark (incompressible data), if you then benchmark with ATTO (compressible data) you will get speeds over 200MB/s.

The Sandisk spec sheet does not specify what software is used for their advertised Read/Write speeds.

Sandisk is a big company, they will use the most accurate software to test the speed, therefor i personally dont think it can be exceeded.

don't know if this applies to you in any way

found this tid bit at Microsoft ''It's preferable to use normal HDD with torrent and filesharing apps since these are stressing SSDs to the point of breaking. Utorrent sends a lot of read-write commands to your HDD, and the SSD has a limit of times it can be rewritten.''

You're missing my point. It can be exceeded if you're comparing "apples to oranges".
If Sandisk is testing with incompressible data, then if the end user tests with compressible data the results will be higher than advertised.

Bottom line: you can buy the drive but don't expect it to be actually faster than advertised.
