Hi everyone, I am new to the pc world and was thinking of having a go at building my first pc. I made a preliminary list (http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/TheLion567/saved/dMgQzy), but I think I can do better (?) My budget is really £500, but I can stretch to about £550. I saw the Cyberworld Empire Elite pc and was wondering if it's anygood, and if anyone knows the specs, if it's cheaper I might just try building that from scratch. Also, I was going to use my TV as a monitor- if that affects things in any way any advice would be great, thx. One final thing, for the processor I was thinking of over clocking it- is that bad? (I heard it could reach 4.5 GHz over clocked)

Solution

Don't go with custom PC sites. here's some advice:
drop the liquid cooler and get air
drop the optical drive
drop the sound card
upgrade the mobo and ram

Any specifics? (Keeping budget in mind)

Get CM Hyper 212 EVO or X
Drop the ODD and sound card
Get 8 GB of RAM
Get a better Z97 chipset mobo

a great guide and system list that can even run BF4 on low settings fairly well for your price range would be from LinusTechTips' AMD builds which are both fairly cheap and budget orientated

For 500 euros, you can get an i5 build.

Thanks! I've pretty much got all the parts now, but I'm struggling with a monitor- I appreciate there's a price difference, but which is better (for gaming, but also all round use) - the Asus VS238H-p (I can get for £83) or the aoc e2470swhe? (There aren't many reviews for the last one, but it's more expensive) Thanks again

You might want to get the tried and true one (i.e. the one with a lot of reviews).
