My friend upgraded his GPU to an AMD R9 280x. He will sell me his MSI R7 265 for only $100. I was wondering if my PSU would be enough for an r7 265.

Computer:

CPU: AMD A10 7850k @ stock clocks
MoBo: Asus a88xm-a
Ram: Patriot Viper Xtreme 8GB (2 x 4GB) @ 2400mhz
HDD: 1TB WD Blue
PSU: EVGA 430w 80+
Fans: 4 (2 x 92mm, 2 x 120mm)

A 500w PSU is recommended. According to PSU calculators you need at least a 400 watt PSU. This leaves very little room for error.

buy it and upgrade your power supply as well to a 750 so you won't need to get another one on the next card after this.

To put it into perspective, the R9 270 requires 24 Amps on the 12v rail & the R7 260X 20amps. The R7 265 is between them, so your looking at around needing 22 amps on the 12v rail.

R7 265 System Wattage with GPU in FULL Stress = 253W/22amps

The EVGA 430W has 34amps on the 12v rail. Plus your system is pretty minimal with the 95W CPU the only other really power hungry component. Should be fine.
