so ive just installed this hyper t4 cooler, (i had the fx 8320 stock cooler) so it was a nice upgrade, however i could only install it horizontaly (bought it w/o knowing that!!!) and my case (Vs 3 advanced) offers no top ventilation... is there a way to bypass this ? hell im even thinking in drilling some holes on the case!
and if theres no way to fix this, what cg do you guys recommend , (currently i pull on top side, maybe i should try pushing air to the top instead of pulling ( since the cooler occupies most of the very little space))

hope i made myself clear :S thanks in advanced!!

What I have done with some builds that have no top ventilation (where it is needed most), is get a 4 1/2" to 4 5/8" hole saw and drill a hole in the top of the case. Then I drill mtg holes and add a 120mm fan grill/shroud to the top of the case. Bigger holes and fans if required. But be sure to clean the case out good of filings and such before rebuilding.

yeah i was thinking to do smth like that!, sadly i dont own a saw, nor do i posses the skills to handle it lol, besides the case it isnt even a year old i would very much like not to ruin it....yet!

Wait. I have an older T3 model that has that same mtg arrangement. It can be mounted in any of 4 directions because the heat sink base is slotted in one direction and grooved in the other direction. So the AMD clamp can be used both ways. Isn't yours like that?

you know when sometimes big brands makes the newer model worse in some aspect, there here's the case lol.

ive couldnt manage to do install it vertically and ive also read several times that you cant.

here are some newegg's reviews
Cons: super pain to get on. only direction is up or down for AMD users (as stated by others). Pretty big and will get in the way of cables
Cons: This cooler is optimized for the amd sockets of fm2 fm2+ and am3/am3+ sockets in regards to how you do not need to remove a back plate or do anything wonky inorder to install it. However you will only be able to orient it with the air flow blowing up not to the side.
This is not a problem for me since I have an exhaust fan on the top of my case (rosewill Challenger).
This cooler is not to be paired with high profile ram heatsinks. they wont fit on this thing if you are running on the amd side.
ps: also having an horizontal install i had to move the ram to the 3rd and 4rth slot :S no dual channelling for me lol

As long as you have a decent exhaust fan it will still draw the hot air out.

I wonder why they would do that? The AMD clamp can't be set like this anymore?

(ignore the Intel brackets I still have attached in the pic)

when i first install it i dint find a way, but the pic from your t3 clearly shows one....well i ll just have to try again as soon as i buy some thermal paste, ill keep you posted in the meantime, thanks a lo clutchc!

@RobCrezz theres also a HD 7870 pumping some heat there, and i have just one 12 inch CM silent fan (i do have a side fan too, but its almost on the bottom level, touched with the t4, so theres no way its taking hot air from the cpu)

its not only about being fine... I, like most pc users, rather have the best temps i can get, with my hardware properly arranged. And not to mention that one of my high profile rams (Slot 3) is slightly bent, while slot 1 and 2 are inaccesible .

If it is just the fan housing hitting the RAM, you can slide the fan up a bit on the heatsink. If it is the heatsink itself that is hitting, there's not much you can do about that other than use a lower profile RAM.

If you wanted the best temps you can get, then you purchase better than a "budget" cooler.
