Few questions
1. Who is your isp? (DSL or Cable)
2. Do you use a router? Model/# or modem type?
3. Do you have any errors messages? (I.E "limited connection" "404 page not found"
Trouble shooting:
1. To the best of your ability plug the computer up with ethernet. ( depending on your computer you should have a flashing light on ethernet jack, suggesting that all hardware is working correctly)
2. Open dos prompt and type this command " ipconfig /all" ( to get to dos prompt, click start button and in the search box type "CMD"
If nothing is disabled, check for a valid ip (could be anything. depends on isp/hardware. DO NOT POST IP address to thread. An example is 192.168.0.1)
In the same dos prompt type "ping 8.8.8.8." 3 packets will be sent to Google dns server. Should say no packet loss. If you can successfully ping a outside ip address you might have a browser problem.
