Random FPS Drops In all Games

on nearly every game that play I get around 100 - 200 fps and every minute or so, the game will drop to around 10 fps, this has happened for ages but never really been very bad but recently became more frequent and I'm sick of it, I have narrowed it down to my CPU randomly spiking to 100% but I have no idea what is making it spike.

I have tried,

  • driver update
    cleaning out dust
    checking for virus
    checking for any bad drivers
    registry clean.
and probably more...
the temps of my cpu are good, max 30 idle and max 60 in game.
the graphic settings in games have absolutely no change on the spikes.

Specs:

CPU: AMD fx 4170 Quad Core
RAM: 8GB
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 7850
Motherboard: MSI 760GM-P23 FX

Could anyone help?

thanks in advance.

I'm tempted to agree with firo40 but before I can do that, let's talk about what games you're playing in the first place. "Nearly every game [you] play" could mean 500 games or it could mean 4. What games in particular are you talking about? Because I doubt you could be getting 100 - 200 fps on something like Far Cry 3 for example. It could just be a really bad CPU bottleneck, but let's see what you're talking about first.

Alright, well it's a good thing I asked because you certainly shouldn't be getting anything less than like 80 fps in CSS, even if you have an FX-4130. Are you certain that's one of the games that drops to 10? There's no reason it should do that. First thing I recommend is make sure any background programs you have open are closed. A good way to make sure you don't have any unnecessary background programs on is to boot Windows into safe mode and then try to play the game from there.

I will try that and yeah its not affected as much its like 20fps and not as frequent, what is weird is that i used to be able to have a second monitor on, watch a stream and play csgo at 60fps and now i cant even have anything open in the background
