my mother board shorts itself randomly

My mother board keeps shorting, I had it running all night no problem but today it did within an hour, just built the computer. First time turning on it just looped it self off and on

  1. You did install the standoffs, right?

    Some info on the system would be helpful here. And don't forget the PSU make and model.

    the stand offs are the small black screws that came with mother board?

    ummm...not really.

    They go in between the case and the motherboard. A screw then goes through the motherboard into these.

    If you did not install these, do not turn the system on again until you have.

  8. Sounds like it might be a hardware fault. Something, probably the motherboard, shorted when you ran it without the standoffs.
  9. is the new link to a post of mine about this problem. We think its my CPU getting to hot, showin at 50 C on idle with fire fox open and case off. ? should i get new cpu cooler? im using the one intel cpu sent me, standered in box. Cus i can have computer on for more then 6 hrs now. But if i run a game in middle of it, it shuts down?
