Hey everyone. My Xbox 360 died and I was browsing the builds on /r/pcmasterrace. I was looking at their 'Media Elite' build here:

http://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/wiki/builds#wiki_the_media_elite

I was wondering if it would be possible to upgrade my desktop PC to a lower tier gaming PC to replace my XBOX 360. That way I could use my PC as a stopgap until it's time to buy a new computer; and at that time I could buy a proper gaming PC.

The specs for my PC are:

Motherboard: MSI K9N6PGM2-V2 Micro ATX AMD Motherboard See details here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130241

RAM: rendition (2GBx1, 1GBx1) DDR2 800mhz pc6400 memory

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 AM2 4200 + 2.2 GHZ processor

Power Supply: Allied 350W ATX Power Supply

Case: mini -Tower mATX Chassis

My plan was to increase the amount of Ram to 4 GB, and add a: Asus Radeon R7 250 1GB Video Card. Would this system be equivalent to the 'Media Elite' build referenced above? Also would my my motherboard support this card? And would this card be able to fit in my case? Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated!

It will be slower than an AMD 5350. To be honest, I wouldn't put any money into what is an ancient platform at this point.

Hard to say about the GPU, simply because I think you selected the wrong motherboard - you have a socket 939 CPU but linked an AM2 motherboard that's 3 or 4 years newer, which it cannot run on. Given that's a CPU from 2005, you may very well have a motherboard that wants an AGP card.
