For years I stayed with SP2, with only a few updates, but had to update to SP3 in order to use Skype. My question is, if I need to use sfc for some reason, should I use my SP2 install disk? If not, what should I do? Thanks.
this should work not mather witch service pack you have you dont need to use the disc to start it up .
Thank you for your response. Perhaps my question was not clear. What I wanted to know was how to use the SFC (System File checker) to check the system files, if I ever needed to. Usually, when the "scannow C:" command is given, the SFC window opens and requests that the install disc be inserted. You seem to be saying that I do not need to use the disc. Then how do I respond to the system request to insert the disc?
