I have recently been asking around and trying to find a build suitable for what i stated above, id like to be able to hold 60fps 1080p on every game i try to play, except for the exception of crysis 3 which i know i probably wont be able to do but id like to get as close as possible if i could because im definitely going to play it. This is the setup that someone had suggested i used to achieve this goal.

I kind of just want some second opinions to be absolutely sure this will work, and i also would like to be able to play on the highest settings possible on 1440p. id like to keep the budget under 1300 but i can go as high as 1500. Also would the Gigabyte Radeon R9 290 4GB WINDFORCE be the card to go with or the GTX 780 for what ive asked above? ive been looking around and have noticed the GTX 780 usually had higher benchmarks but people have insisted that the R9 290 is actually the superior graphics card. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Yep that buildlooks spectacular, have fun building it. You'll have all the necessary ports. I got that same mobo just a Z77 chipset and I still haven't filled up all the ports, not to mention the extra ports that the case comes with. You probably might want to get a fan controller, since the 450D doesn't come with one. Also idk but that optical bay kinda bothers me for being so cheap, so I'm gonna find a new one for ya.

Your gonna take those Cougar fans and put 3 on the top as exhaust, the last one you can leave as backup. Connect all the fans to your fan controller(if you do get it) that way your system can be whisper quiet when your not gaming. You may want to connect the exhaust fan to the...

This build will max out games with no issues. Well if you're planning to play 1440p in the future stick with the 290. AMD tends to handle higher resolutions than nVidia's GPUs better. Would also consider the 290x, but the 290 will do just fine.

Well first of all there is no such thing as "next-gen" for PCs. Developers just feel the need to limit themselves to a consoles hardware, but PCs will always be able to sustain graphics a console never could.

The build that person gave you, they chose a Z97 board. Kinda useless, save money and get a Z87 board. Sapphire are better with AMD cards so I switched that out. The reason 780s get better benchs than 290s is because the 780 is more powerful at 1080p, but higher in res you go then the 290 starts to take the crown. I upgraded some other components and gave you a case that I personally wish I had

CPU: Intel Core i7-4770K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($304.99 @ NCIX US)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($29.98 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: ASRock Z87 Extreme4 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($119.99 @ Newegg)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($74.70 @ Newegg)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($54.98 @ OutletPC)
Video Card: Sapphire Radeon R9 290 4GB Tri-X Video Card ($389.99 @ Newegg)
Case: Corsair 450D ATX Mid Tower Case ($94.99 @ NCIX US)
Power Supply: Corsair Professional 750W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply ($129.99 @ Newegg)
Optical Drive: LG GH24NSB0 DVD/CD Writer ($15.98 @ OutletPC)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8 (OEM) (64-bit) ($97.98 @ OutletPC)
Total: $1313.57
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

If you allow me to go to $1500 then I can add a few more goodies you'll like but I tried to stay at your $1300 limit. With this build though you'll be dominating any game you shove at it. if you get that case I really do suggest you buy some 120mm fans for it for the top exhaust, will really help with your temps. idk why Corsair didn't do this, the case is very well built none the less.

Fans:

Case Fan: Cougar Turbine 120 (4-Pack) 60.4 CFM 120mm Fan ($29.50 @ Amazon)

The Cougar fans are very quiet and are great for airflow, I would probably suggest Corsair AF series but they are louder and are usually used for WC setups. Then again the Cougar fans have a higher statis pressure than Corsair AF fans so who knows. Regardless

P.S (2nd edit XD) If you have a grudge against Win8 then change it out, I personally never noticed a technical differenced when I switched over from win7. Unless your a start menu fanatic then Win8 will do you nicely, hell my performance improved in games, but that's just my view on it.

If i went with 1440p would i greatly decrease my fps with the games i play, or would i be able to still hold around 60fps with this build you gave me? also, is 1440p worth lowering my fps if that is indeed what would happen? or would full 1080p with high fps look better in the long run.
P.S. If you have a recommend 27" 1440p monitor or 1080p 144hz monitor id like to know aswell as i dont want to waste a ton of money on the latest equipment that something else could perform just as well as. id need to stay under 2000 though, preferably 1800 with everything including monitor, keyboard, mouse and the build you gave me as thats definitely what i will be going with maybe besides the case just because i believe the phantom i had picked comes with 3 fans already, but if u think thats a bad idea let me know lol i guess it all depends on best airflow and if all those components can fit in a mid size vs full tower case.

im sorry but could you also include the pcpartpicker URL if you do help me with this, id appreciate it alot.

Well a 1080p screen with 144Hz is kinda stupid because your going to need higher fps to not get screen tear or use vsync alot. the R9 290 was made for multi-monitor setups so using it for a single 1440p should give you the same results as 1080p, at 1080p you'd get around 70-90fps at 1440p its would be in the 60fps area.

I picked the 450D because its a mid-tower with a small profile, and comes with 3 fans as-well. its just for your sake a small profile, for things like transporting it around and being hidden. Also its able to hold 3 radiators at once which is very very rare for a mid-tower which is a plus in my book, it's optimized for airflow as-well. The phantom is probably just as good just much larger and the pointed top could prove problematic for some desks really up to you.

I was unable to find a 27" 1440p but was able to find a 27" 1080p so I chose that. Chose some random but good mouse, keyboard and headset but you can change that at your will. All within the $1800 limit.

awesome thank you so much. i just have 2 more questions and then im set, is this gpu going to be loud and hot as hell? and if im going to be hitting above 60 fps, wouldnt i need something higher than 60hz, like say 120hz to actually see higher than 60 frame rate? and again thank you for all your help!

ugh im sorry last question foreal lol do i need a 1ms response time monitor to get the best out of my graphics? or would something like 6 to 8 even be fine cuz im kind of leaning towards 1440p if the gpu i have is going to perform better on that than 1080p.

the higher in resolution you go the more raw power a GPU needs so for example A GPU would average 80 fps at 1080 but if you start playing games at 4k resolution your average fps could drop to 20fps.

response time isn't a huge factor for 1080p monitors but for large monitor 30"+ and/or high resolution monitors, you can sometimes see the difference between 6ms and 1ms. At 1080p however, it's not something you'll be seeing a negligible difference in

okay so then a 1080p 60hz 5ms would be able to fully display 80 fps and higher without tearing or should i go 120hz? or do you think i should go with 1440p based on my graphics card since it doesnt perform as well at 1080p as 1440p

well if I can get 80fps on BF4 with my 60mhz 1080p screen without tearing I'm sure you can do the same. Like I said before any card will perform better the lower the resolution, so you'll get more fps at 1080p than you do at 1440p

alright, well this is what i think ill end up going with, i just need you to look it over since you obviously know what your talking about when it comes to this stuff and want to make sure i have enough ports for the items that need to be connected with it if you could find that out somehow, i just need to be able to connect to my internet considering i cant use an ethernet cable. but i also want to use my ps4 controller, and since its a blue ray device im just wondering if i need something changed on here to make my pc able to discover it and make it usable. and if not ill go ahead and get this bad ass machine put together

You may want to connect the exhaust fan to the second CPU header, not the first one! that one you plug the CM Hyper Evo fan into 1st CPU header on the mobo. Anyway GL, select the best answer and if you need more help pm me
