Yes. Don't buy a junk PSU. I would never recommend Ultra PSUs. Instead, I always recommend spending a few $$$ more for a quality PSU, like Corsair...

to be honest, i REALLY don't know. all i know is I have windows 7 xp (home premium) if there is a way to find out my psu, motherboard, i'd want to know how to do it.

You'll have to crack the case and look at them. The PSU make and model should be pretty obvious. You may have to hunt around on the motherboard, but it will be labeled somewhere on it. It may just be a series of numbers and letters.

If this is a store-bought system, list the make and model - I may be able to find the component list online.

First start by telling us the make and model of your computer, we can try and look up the motherboard and PSU and save you the effort. I had trouble finding the mobo name physically on my old OEM dell computer, same for the PSU but I was able to get the ratings off. Anyway, idk how can tell you how to open your PC. Find a way, find the gray/black/white box with a crap load of cables coming out.

Find something like this:
HX1000W-54.jpg

see if you can find the model name, if not just take a picture of it.

Unless you have a build-sheet handy. You might be able to get the motherboard info from your System Information in the Control Panel on Windows, but you'll need to open it up to ID the PSU. Honestly, I don't know if it's worth the effort. By today's standards that's a pretty old and feeble system. I doubt your PSU is going to be up to powering it. That's even if the graphics card fits on your board or in your case.

Recommend PSU is a 500W power supply with 1x 6-pin PCI Express power connector.

yay i got it! opened my pc, not that hard

totally disagree............. the r7 260x requires 19 amps at 12+ volt and a good 450 watt psu,r9 270 x requires 24amps at 12+ volt r9 290 x needs a 33amps at 12+ volts...

just buy a 450 - 500watt psu from xfx and get a r7 260x or gtx 750 whatever u like if u can spend a little more then r9 270 ....

Yes. Don't buy a junk PSU. I would never recommend Ultra PSUs. Instead, I always recommend spending a few $$$ more for a quality PSU, like Corsair, Seasonic, or XFX. Not all PSUs are created equally.
