Which card for gaming?

So I was looking at 2 VERY similar cards. I assume which are VERY good(Correct me if I'm wrong, 4 gb of memory; my current has 1 gb. Which one is better? And will either work on my pc? I had a previous thread but tiger direct does not seem to be working so I made a new one and want to confirm they will both work, and which is better. Consider the fan as well; I don't wanna buy a new one.

Which is better, and will they BOTH work(Not at same time, just if I were to buy either.)

Motherboard: GA-970A-UD3
CPU: AMD FX-8120 Eight-Core (3.1GHz)
Video Card: AMD Radeon HD 6670
Power Supply: 700W OCZ Technology?
RAM: 8 GB

You don't need 4gb... the 270x is a good card which will run most games on at least high. Get the 2gb version. You'll never use 4gb. So between the two. The gigabyte offer better cooling while the asus is more quieter.

the 4gb will not help if you're playing on 1920 x 1080p. If you're going to play in 4k in the future then yes it will help, but you shouldn't be playing in 4k with a 270x you'd need a 280/280x at least. You're just wasting money on 2gb you're not going to use. Performance isn't about how much cram it has. Its about its speeds, stream processors etc.

At 4k resolution, a single 280/280x would still struggle I'd imagine.

If you really want the 4gb go for it, but I don't think you'll find anyone her on TOM's that would recommend you to get the 4gb version... it will simply go to waste...

Yeah it will. Just trying to convince this guy to get the 2gb, he's got no reason to go for the 4gb. Even cross fired I'm pretty sure the 270x would not handle 4k well.

I'm just trying to save you some money. What I'm trying to make you understand is that those 2 extra GB will go to waste. Heck even 1gb is enough for gaming but 2 is preferred. These are much better GPUs and I should've don this much earlier. AND HEY LOOK 3GB. In all seriousness though. These are very good GPUs that will have no trouble maxing out most games. You could even crossfire to play 4k in the future.

i'm with Drone. assuming you got no plans to get a higher res monitor or go with a three monitor setup, spending extra on vram just isn't worth it when you could get either a 760 or R9 280 for better performance.

Core clock is its speed. Boost clock is what speed the GPU will run at if it thinks it is wise to do so. http://gpuboss.com/gpus/Radeon-R9-280-vs-Radeon-R9-270X Just a quick comparison, 270x is faster but speed isn't everything. 280 trades speed for a bigger memory interface and stream processors and such.

Yeah. It will have no problem maxing out most games. My friend has that card and he play BF4 ultra. Good luck with your build
