Hello everyone! I'm a first time computer builder, and hoping to have a great experience with it. I've assembled a parts list based off the little I know (very new to the tech side of everything) and was hoping you all would be able to review my list. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I really only play TF2 gaming wise, but I play often. I'm hoping to be able to run it at max settings with a high frame rate. Would this do the trick? Thanks!

Edit: I've seen a lot of posts saying that Intels processors are far superior. I'd be willing to give intel a shot for sure, but pcpartpicker says that they aren't compatible with another part, didn't specify which one though. I'd guess it's the motherboard? Regardless, if you have a config that is compatible and uses an intel processor I'd be totally fine with that assuming the price remains similar.

Sorry if this is all a bit rambly, getting late at night for me haha

Try getting the i5 3330 at 177$ but if you can't stretch your budget that much at least get the i3 4330 at 130$.

As for a motherboard take the Gigabyte GA-H81M-H, it will get the job done.

The FX-4300 is really poor in performance.

Thanks a lot, in regards to the FX-4300 that seems to be the overwhelming opinion. I'll see what I can do as far as the I5-3330 goes :)

Edit: I'm not finding the Gigabyte GA-H81M-H on PcPartPicker...compatibility filter is on and it's not appearing in the list.

The i5 3330 is Ivybridge, so you will be wanting a H77/H71 motherboard for that cpu. H81 is for Haswell or Haswell refresh only.

Thanks :) I'm leaning towards AMD to try and stay closer to budget...just hoping that won't hold me back.

I would advise against it. an i3 would be as good as the FX6300 in most things, and you have the option to upgrade to i5 or i7 later.

My bad, then there is this ASRock H77M (it's the cheapest MB which isn't made by some kind of not-to-be-trusted brands :p)
