Just built this computer,
First time booting it kept looping a shutdown, not geting to bios.
Then i found out i needed to put in mounting brackets for motherboard.
we got it to work 6 hours and sum plus playin couple games. It will shut down randomly.
I think it shuts down during game?

stupid questions, but it might help...?

Did you make sure to use thermal paste on the heatsink? If it was on the heatsink already, did you make sure to check/take off a film of plastic or something covering it?

Stock Intel Heatsink/fans do their job with no issues usually. Unless, you purchased them separately and got a fan for a lower speed cpu?

Shows your cpu at 39-43C (15% usage)Vcore is 0.816-1.146 - OK Fan 1028rpm

Blow out your case - especially fans, filters and coolers.

If your cpu is more than 35C max on idle or 45C gaming, then re-seat your cooler -

power off. remove cpu fan. remove cpu cooler. use isopropyl alcohol to clean the old thermal paste off the top of the cpu and bottom of the cooler.
put a pea size drop of new arctic silver 5 thermal paste in the centre of the cpu. reattached the cooler an fan. connect the fan.

If your cpu is more than 35C max on idle or 45C gaming, then get a custom cooler eg Noctua NH-D14 or Corsair H80i

Oh, i Did not put any heatsink on there, Just built this yesterday, first time. I will check if there is a plastic film on the cpu fan. Does heatsink make a difference?

Well i see what the heatsink is now, the silver stuff, it is directly on it. Do you think i need a better fan for the cpu? cus 50 C with open case and just a firefox open seems lil high to me.

You said its a new build, so the cpu (properly thermal pasted/heatsinked etc) should not be overheating. So YES! Get a "heavy duty heatsink/fan for it! remember the thermal paste! (it will be on NEW heatsink/fans already)

in my experience, this is NOT common.

I just had a thought. Go into the BIOS (CMOS) and load default settings, then reboot and let windows load. Monitor the CPU temperature. If it is now reasonable, a setting in the BIOS was OVERPOWERING the CPU. If it doesn't fix it, we're back to the heatsink/fan/thermal paste way to fix it.

Well right now the CPU is idling at 35-40 ish after I loaded the defualt. Why is this beyond confusing. But my alienware sits around 35-50 had this thing for a year and no problem?
