Hiya,

So I recently built my PC, and the last few things I need to upgrade are my monitor, keyboard, mouse and desk.

I have a problem though.

I play competitive games on Xbox 360 / Xbox One. The last monitor I purchased was the BenQ RL2455HM and it was absolutely horrible. Blury, choppy, washed up colours - the only good thing was the response time.

Keeping that in mind, I've always wanted a 27" IPS (probably an AOC) monitor.

I'm weighing up getting an AOC 27" (for general computer use, and PC games (not a huge PC gamer yet) and just getting a cheaper monitor like the ASUS VE248H (however being in the same price range as the RL2455HM, I'm a bit worried) just for the 360/XB1.

Or should I just a 144hz monitor and use my monitor I have now as a utility monitor on the side?

THEN that brings the BenQ XL2420Z cs ASUS VG248QE question.

I hear the ASUS monitors are a lot crisper, and the only thing that is 'downgraded' is the flicker free settings (?). The BenQ is $50 more, so am I just paying for the brand with that $50 or is it going to make a huge different with features I haven't come across for just a casual pc gamer/general user and hardcore Xbox player?

Thanks for all who have read and are going to reply/replied. Much appreciated.

Sorry, mate, dollars covers several countries, guess my guess was wrong. :(
As the article says, it's currently the only IPS panel around that can do 120Hz so would have been almost ideal for your needs...Apart from the budget. And location. ;)
Probably an IPS panel would be too slow for competitive gaming, they're great for movies, general use and gamers of my age ;) but when every millisecond counts, you need a solid, sharp image, and when you positively, absolutely, have to kill very other mother in the room, a TN panel is really your weapon of choice.
A quick scan through the reviews shows both the 24" BenQ and Asus displays as being pretty good so I see why you're scratching your head, but I'd go for the BenQ, it looks good enough...

Thanks for the reply mate.

I live in AUS, and I think that a new IPS, 27", 120Hz monitor will be a blowout of my budge.

I'm wanting a 27" and a 24" as the 24" would be for LAN events for the console. It's either a 24" and a cheaper (see above) 24 or just a good 24".

If at all possible, try to see both running side-by-side, perhaps at your next meeting/lan party?
And as a final point, if you go for dual screens, you'll need to sit further away from a 27" display, sitting close is a bit of a problem when using it for normal tasks; It's so large you're constantly scanning up/down and left/right which quickly gets tiring and you'll need fighter pilots peripheral vision to get the best out of it when gaming!
