I've heard a lot about the R9 290 and some of its been positive and some negative. When the card was first released it had a lot of heat and sound problems as I've seen. But what about now have they been resolved by other manufacturers? For example the Sapphire R9 290 has meant to have solved the heating issues so i've heard. Apparently this card always runs at 90 degrees, even when im not playing intensive games? I really just need some clarifying please :)

Also is there a nvidia equivalent to this card??

Solution

50C~(some times less) depend on what i'm doing and what is temp in room.

I have Sapphire R9 290X TRI-X and under full load my card runs 80C in hot ROOM. Your Case should be bigger for better air balance, make sure you have enough ventilation but it's not normal in normal usage to have 90C GPU something is wrong with your card.

I have not bought the card i was just asking, but thanks. I'll be using a cooler master 212 evo to help cool it so that should be fine??

Are you using any extra case fans?

One from front panel to inject fresh air inside and one in back panel to eject out hot air from inside.
