Hi Everyone.

I am finally ready to upgrade my 6-7 year desktop pc to a new one.

OK basically i have been researching for the last 3 weeks, reading reviews etc etc.

The following are the parts i have come up with and i would like your input/opinions on this build;

CPU: i7-4790K

MOBO: Asus Z97 Pro or Deluxe (only difference i see between these mobo are more connections?)

SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 250gb

CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken X61

CASE: Phanteks Enthoo Pro Case

RAM: (Not sure which one to get? to many to choose, should i go with a higher ?MHZ? and i was thinking around 16GB of ram)

PSU: (I have an existing 1200W thermaltake tough power which i purchased around 6 years ago, can i still use it or is it best to purchase a new one?)

GPU: (Currently im not planning on getting one now, i will purchase one 2-3 months down the track, ill just use my 2x 9800GTX existing cards) 80% im going to sli 2 cards or is it best to go single?

Ok now i think you guys would like some further info such as;

Q: What am i going to use the computer for:
A: Going to use this computer for everything, alot of editing, use as a htpc & (gaming but not now in 2-3 months.)

Q: Am i going to over-clock?
A: most likely as the asus board z97 has a nice feature where you can over-clock your cpu for certain applications or games which i think is awesome.

Q: Price range for this build
A: Im happy to spend no more than $1500 without the GPU card, as i plan on getting this 2-3 months.

Q: Pre built or i build?
A: I will defiantly building this PC myself, have built a few in the pass :p

Now questions i have:

I was looking to replacing stock fans with the the 'Aerocool DS' since they apparently quiet and i love neons in my pc.

And if you think i should get some other component or maybe look into something else please advise as well, would love to hear your inputs and thoughts.

Lastly but not least i am sorry for the long post, just its exciting building a new PC. :p

Cheers.

you want to replace the old power supply. with old power supply there two issue. one is when caps age then can leak. yu might not be able to see this without opening the power supply up. the other issue is the newer intel cpu run at so low of a power that all power vendors had to make new units that support the low sleep voltages. the onboard ipgpu of the intel cpu is more powerfull then the older video cards you have. for now just run onboard chipset till you buy one high end gpu.
sli and crossfire still has bugs in it and some of the newer games still have issue. from some online leaks abut the next nvidia maxwell the newer cards may be cheaper then the older 700 line. for your ram get 1866 or faster ram. with the new ram make sure...
