hi... i own a set of rams...Corsair Dominator Platinum 16GB (2x 8GB) DDR3 2133MHz Memory CMD16GX3M2A2133C9 which i bought already overclocked by last owner. i want to get another set of the same but im sure it wont be clocked. will that effect the way they work together if one set is over clocked and the other set is not? i can see it will matter considering they will run at diff speed. so that means i will have to over clock the new set? or can the old set be turned back to stock speed?

with newer ram if the ram is the same speed and type (kit). the motherboard is going to read the spd info of the rams. and set the speed up for you. all newer ram that faster then 1600 do have in the spd info 1600 as one of the stock speeds. speeds faster then 1600 are in then xmp profile. use cpu-z and read the spd info of the ram you have now. when you buy the other ram kit if the voltage and timing is not the same you can run into errors.
