Can you add a liquid cooler in the future to an already fan cooled cpu? (i5 4690k)

I might not need to liquid cool my newly installed i5 4690k cpu yet since I wont be overclocking it for a good while. But can you upgrade it later on down the road? Even after the thermal paste and fan cooler have already been installed for a few years?

Even then, is it even worth it to get liquid cooling when you want to overclock? I'm not even sure I will need to overclock lol.

Yes - you add a custom cooler (water or air) as long as it'll fit your case.

An i5 doesn't need liquid cooling. It doesn't give off that much heat. Get an air cooler eg coolermaster hyper 212 evo or better still a Noctua - if they fit your case.

I'd highly recommend reapplying thermal paste or else your temperatures could be even worse than before.
