I would like an HTPC to record Fios through a Silicon Dust Prime and it would be my first build.

Here is a parts list I came up with:

CPU AMD A6-6400K 3.9GHz Dual-Core $62.95
Motherboard ASRock FM2A88X-ITX+ Mini ITX FM2+ $98.99
Memory Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 $77.99
Storage Corsair Force LS 120GB 2.5" SSD $90.98
Case Cooler Master Elite 120 Advanced (Black) Mini ITX Tower $39.99
Power Supply Silverstone 500W ATX12V / EPS12V $69.05
Optical Drive Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer $19.98

I would probably run either Linux with XBMC or buy :( Win7 with WMC

Any suggestions, comments would be greatly appreciated

If you really only use it for video streaming, brazos is fine. It has lower power consumption. But if you want to stream at 4k then it's a problem.
Or why not just use amd a4 if you're not gaming.
Anyway what's your budget? maybe i can suggest another specs

Thank you both. I would like to spend less than $500. and Fios is Verizon's cable in NJ.
Not sure if you know the answer, but if I use WMC or XBMC can I add a bluetooth usb dongle and then use my tablet as a remote??
I'm still debating with myself whether an HTPC is worth the trouble and cost versus just renting a DVR from Fios.

The phone and the htpc need to be on the same wifi network and then it should work
