Having a really weird problem.

Whenever my computer wakes from sleep, hibernation, or even just regular startup, the screen stays black. Strangely enough the problem goes away after a couple minutes if I turn my monitor on and off. And in fact the screen isn't completely black, if you look carefully you can see the faint outlines of my desktop and the windows and so forth.

What are the possible causes of this? Is it possible there's something wrong with the monitor itself?

Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit

Sounds like the backlight on your monitor isn't turning on after sleep, very strange. Might have a power problem inside the monitor if turning it on and off makes it works.

There could be a couple of issues.

The simplest is the monitors scan refresh system to see if there is any video input isn't very good or has a very quick give up rate.

It could be how the video card reacts to waking the computer up. Make sure your drivers are up to date. Also check in you sleep settings for windows 7 on how the computer goes to sleep or wakes up.

The motherboard might also have a power saving setting that sometimes messes up the wake up of your computer

The common problem is due to GRAPHIC DRIVER. Try to install latest version. if not works, then other version from official manufacture site or etc... any of them might fix the problem.
