Hi guys,
I wanna ask which of the configuration will perform better in gaming?
1. FX-6300 with R9 270X 8 GB RAM
2. Intel Pentium G3258 Anniversary Edition with GTX 760 8 GB RAM

More about : combo gaming

The first option is better overall. The second option would only be better when it comes to gaming if you also buy a good motherboard and CPU cooler to overclock the G3258.

If the ability to upgrade down the road is important, option #2.
If the above does not matter and you are focused on the here and now, then option #1 is better overall. You can game, record, and multi-task much better on the FX-6300 than on a G3258. Photoshop would also run better on option #1, as with other video editing software.

Hey there,

If you're going to be gaming and not much of anything else, that dual core intel will serve you well. Intel cores are more powerful per core, even if they have less GHz per core. The 760 would perform well with it, too.

If your looking to game, stream, and run other processes, the fx 6300 would be the better of the two. And the 270x would probably be the best possible GPU for that processor without (much) of a bottleneck. Though, it will need good cooling (Hyper 212) otherwise it might run hot under such stress.

I just got r9 270x and running with i3-3220. Can run just about everything on high / ultra settings. right now u can also get a r9 280 for less than a gtx 760. here is an msi 280 for 219$ after rebate.

what games do you play most? games are only going to become more and more complex and the 6300 will work better for future games built for multi cores. I don't think either of those processors would bottleneck enough to really notice. I am using i-3 3220 w/ r9 270x and have been able to run everything I want so far on high / ultra mix. If you like to play new games and you don't plan to buy an i-5 once there is a game you don't run well then you might wanna look into the other. the pentium is definitely solid for the price and if you plan to buy an i-5 later it uses the same socket as well. the fx 4350 is really good for the price as well having 4 instead of 6 cores but much higher clock speed for about 10$ more.

g3258 supports maximum ram of 1333 and the 6300 supports 1866 both types of ram cost the same $. if you do plan to upgrade later and you buy 8gb of ddr 1333 now with the pentium and upgrade to an i-5 later you will still have the 1333. if you got the pentium would you even be overclocking it? that is the biggest upside to that processor and if your not going to then the gap between the 2 goes away. if you plan to overclock anywhere near the 4.7 which is highest i've seen test at running stable your going to need a better more expensive motherboard and cooling. not to mention a lot of patience is you are not already familiar with all of that.

Thanks a lot. I'll go with the FX-6300 and R9-270X. I'll play games like Crysis 3, battlefield 4, watch dogs etc and upcoming games like the division , ac unity and a lot others. Thanks all of you for your precious replies. :)

It isn't limited to 1333. You can run 1866 on a G3258.
