I have an older asus P5N-E SLI. My on board ethernet quit working. I am trying to to play unreal tournament 2004 which is super fast paced so latency matters to me. I am on wirless now but im getting some lag not sure from where but i want to go back to a wired connection. I am not sure if i would benefit from a pci express or pci card the same or more for one? I would like suggestions on a really good nic card for my board. Thank you

This is for a desktop.

It is highly unlikely you could detect the difference between a pci or a pci express based ethernet card. There is much more overhead in other parts of the system that will affect you way before latency from a buss makes a difference. You are talking a tiny fraction of a millisecond.

Pretty much most cards are pci express anyway so buy based on price and features.
