How many watts do I need?

Hello all, I am in the process of putting these parts together but I'm not sure how large a psu would need to be to run things nicely.
I7 4790k
Asus Gtx 780
Z97-k mobo
1 dvd drive
1 Hdd

I wonder if it's better to buy a premium psu with just enough power to run things or a less quality psu with lots of headroom. For example a 500w seasonic vs a 750w corsair cx.

Thanks for your help

  1. 500w isn't gonna be enough, but I wouldn't recommend getting a 750w corsair cx. What would your budget be? With a 650w PSU you're gonna have quite some headroom, a 600w should be fine too.

  7. The G2 is of higher quality, but the G1 isn't bad either, he'd be saving money on the XFX while getting an excellent quality PSU.
