I have an HP Slimline s5710f BV627AA
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02627981&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en#N101

The documentation notes that it has 2 PCIe X1 slots with one that is accessible.

I bought a Intel Wireless-N 7260 - Network adapter - PCI Express Half Mini Card
Intel Wireless-N 7260 - Network adapter - PCI Express Half Mini Card

The card is too big to fit into the motherboard slot. What am I missing? Is this really a min-PCI slot and if so, what is the difference? What would you recommend I buy to provide wireless access with this desktop?
Thanks!

What you bought is Mini-PCI Express, meant for laptops. It does not fit in a PCI Express x1 slot. TigerDirect should have had that labeled better.

There are one of two options you can do here:

1) Buy an adapter that will convert the PCI Express x1 slot on your motherboard to the Mini PCI Express slot necessary for the card you bought.
2) Send that card back and buy one specifically labeled PCI Express x1.

Judging by the cost of the adapter on TigerDirect's website, and the fact that you would have to rig up something for the antennas, I'd send that card back and pick a different one. For less than the cost of the adapter, you can buy this card: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=8148964&CatId=2688

P.S. Added bonus: The card I suggested includes a half height bracket designed for small cases. You might need that.

Thanks. I initiated the return and made the recommended purchase. I'll post again when it is installed. I had no idea that there was a difference as the pictures over a browser looked to match male/female. Thanks again.
