Hello, I don't know if this is the right section or not. Today in the morning after putting my PC in sleep mode, it turns off completely and makes a clicking sound which I (think) is coming from the PSU. Now whenever I disconnect the power cable, the clicking gets slower and then stops, only to begin again when I plug it back in and press the power button.

I do have a HD 4650 that i placed in there, but i made sure it worked with my 250w PSU. I have a HP computer and it has a bestec PSU ( which I've heard have a bad name to it). Please help!

Solution
Your 250w PSU is making that clicking noise because it cannot provide enough power to boot your system.

In short, a 250w PSU is far, far too weak to support a HD4650 GFX card along with the rest of your system.

I'd recommend a 400w PSU to carry that system. Perhaps 450w-500w if you can afford it.

Your system may have been running the HD4650 but the card was probably receiving so little power that it wasn't functioning at its full potential anyway.

I can't say for certain if the PSU is dead. The card may have been running but was not receiving enough power. Running a PSU close to its maximum wattage isn't generally a good idea as they can indeed 'blow a fuse' and stop working.

Test the PSU without the card to confirm if it's dead or simply failing to give the system the minimum power required to boot.

Either way, you'll need a more powerful PSU for that system.
