$2000 budget for gaming rig

I have a budget of $1800 - $2000 and not a cent more Prices must include shipping from newegg or amazon. Prefer to get all parts from one source. I am in the United States.

This will be a gaming rig. I need a Monitor but I do NOT need an OS.

CPU - Intel i7 preferred. Must be unlocked.
Board - z97 (devils cannon) prefer. Must overclock well
Case - Full tower. Think Phanteks Pro or 750D
GPU - Thinking of the 290x by sapphire or a 780ti. 290x is cheaper.
Ram - 16gb (2x8gb) prefer
PSU - Must be modular and support future upgrades. Overkill is fine
storage - 250gb Samsung SSD heavily preferred.
Display - anything over 1080p seems right. Im thinking 1440p.

After all my preferences, it seems hard to keep the budget under $2000. Recommendations would be appreciated.

Some of the preferences limit the options available (especially limiting to a single retailer and 1440p resolution). This build meets all your preferences except the monitor resolution since the 1440p monitors pushed the build about $100 over budget. I'm sure this can be made up for if you're willing to buy components from the cheapest retailer.

I stuck with the sapphire card as the gigabyte has some not so good reviews.

Also, im siding with the Phanteks cpu cooler over the AIO watercooler. Id rather go custom loop if I wanted watercooling.

edit: I just noticed the second post. Ill go through everything and post what I picked and let you guys critique it. Thanks guys

This Gigabyte GA-Z97X-Gaming GT has digital CPU power design with eight phases and great audio solution (Realtek ALC1150 115dB SNR HD Audio solution with a built-in rear audio amplifier).

This is my current build

Phanteks Pro http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... $100
4ghz i7 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... $340
Gigabyte z97 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... $169
Gskill 16GB 1866 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... $164
Corsair Gold rated 850 Modular - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... $150
Phanteks 140mm CPU cooler - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... $75
Mushkin 240GB SSD http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... - $115
Sapphire Tri X 4GB 290x - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... $550
Samsung DVD drive - $20

Total - $1700 after shipping. That leaves about $300 left over

I know I wanted a samsung SSD but the Muskin is a good amount cheaper and offers similar performance. I have not had an issue with their products. I may jump on the samsung if I end up having that flexibility when it comes time to order.

No monitor in my cart. I cant seem to justify gaming on a 1920x1080 60hz display when using an i7 and 290x. Id rather stick with my current display until I find a 1440p display. I dont mind waiting. With $300 left in the budget, that money can be put toward a nice display later.

With some budget left over, you can go for either a 480 GB SSD or two R9-290s in crossfire.

That $2k build i suggested for you already has a nice QHD 27" Monitor. :)

I see that and thank you. It puts me over the budget so I might not be able to buy it right away.

Also, the left over budget has to go to a display so a bigger ssd or second gpu is out of the question. Spending $1600-1700 on the tower its self seems to be the sweetspot.
