Which of the two options is better for single monitor 1080p. If I get the 2 R9 290s, how long will they last until they go down to medium settings at 1080p?
Or are both options overkill and so get a single R9 290 for half the price.
If I get R9 290s they will have WindForce cooling and the 780 would be reference card from EVGA.
So which of the three options is better?
Thanks

I'd get a single R9 290 and then a second one for CrossFire when you need more power.

Without a doubt, I would go for a single GTX 780. The performance difference between a single card and SLI/Crossfire is not double as one might think; it's unnecessary for the small boost in performance.

In any case, don't go for the two R9 290:s as a single GTX 780ti is much more worth the price-tag. The single R9 290, however, is an option, it is certainly a capable card but you'd have to upgrade and get another one not too long from now (or switch to another one entirely). I have a 780ti and with how well it's performing right now, I would wager that I won't have to upgrade for at least one or two years from now.

Yeah.. If you're going for only 1080p a single 780 ti is more than good enough for maxing out games. Crossfired 290s is just way to overkill and would require a bigger PSU. Unless you plan on running ultra with 3monitors or 4k get the 780ti. If you will be playing across 3monitors/4k get 290 crossfire

And +1 to this.

OP, you really don't need a GTX 780 Ti or Crossfire R9 290 for 1080p. Save it for higher resolutions.

In terms of sheer grunt the dual 290's will smash a 780Ti, though either option is pretty overkill. Get yourself a single 290, by the time its insufficient for 1080p the 780Ti will be in the same boat.
