Hello everybody, this is my first post. I've always heard of Tom's Hardware, but never took the time to really visit it. Well here I am

Anyways, I built my first PC back in 2011. It still kicks ass to this day, so I am kinda proud how its performed. But I figure 3 years is long enough and so it's time for an upgrade.

Here are my specs:

GSKILL 8 GB DDR3 RAM
Corsair TX 650W PSU
Sapphire 2GB Radeon HD 6950 (unlocked to 6970)
AMD Phenom II X6 1055T 2.8GHz hexcore
Seagate Barracuda LP 2TB HDD
ASUS AM3 AMD Mobo

I would like to stay below $200 for this upgrade, I haven't really been keeping up with my knowledge on gfx cards. But I did some looking around and with what my mobo could handle I saw the R9 270x, would this be a solid upgrade? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202050

Also, in terms of my current card. I figured I could try craigslist but I don't know what success I'll have there. What alternatives are there that I could try?

Thanks

First rule of upgrading: If it's doing what you want, the way you want it done, you don't need to upgrade: Take your partner out on the money saved instead.
To see a decent improvement you'll need to look at the R9 280X or GTX770 class of card: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/gaming-graphics-card-review,review-32899-7.html As you can see R9 270X would be a very small improvement.
Craiglist, Ebay, Local small ads, friends/family, people you work with. Expect questions and be aware that card needs a strong PSU, make sure the buyers system can cope!
