Hey there,

I recently built a gaming comp with a msi gaming r9 270 and came across a good deal on a gigabyte r9 280x on ebay so I picked it up. The seller used the card previously for crypto mining. I installed it into my computer and installed the drivers from the included gigabyte cd (the card is a rev 2). All seemed to go well and I tried to play Iracing and as soon as the game loaded up the fps went from 123 to 0 and the screen locked up, there was still sound in the background and I was able to kill the program via task manager. Knowing that gigabyte 280x have had some issues, I went into occt and ran a graphics card test and the screen locks up after a second of the test. After this I have to hard reboot the computer. I contacted the seller and he has been very helpful, first off offering a refund, and the. Giving me some suggestions of what he did in the bios for mining purposes. He said the under volted the card for mining purposes and may have forgotten to change the values back.

Could this be the issue? And if so how to I to about reflashing the bios and installing the appropriate drivers and what not? I'm new to this and I didn't expect to be having to do this, but if it is a setting thing and not a bad card, I'd like to fix it rather then returning to the seller. I did try to slow down the chip and memory clocks in oc guru to try to stabilize the card and it did not help.

The system is as follows
Fx6300
Gigabyte 970-d3p
Thermaltake 750w gold
Hyper red 8gb memory
And the r9 280x

Replacing my 270 back into the computing solves the issue:

Thanks for any help/suggestions you can provide

The voltageis likely the issue, I have two R9 280x's crossfired, I had to increase load line calibration from auto to regular to make the cards run stable (LLC basically puts more voltage through components as needed to make them stable)

Any specific recommendations on how to fix this? Where do I make the bios changes? In of guru or elsewhere? How to I make sure I have the latest and most stable driver?
