Built a new pc which I'm now downloading drivers to, and so far Chipset, LAN, and Audio drivers are found and are on my thumb drive. Though, I cannot seem to find the USB driver(s) I need.

The motherboard is Gigabyte GA-Z97X-SLI (rev. 1.0), and there are only USB drivers for windows 7 on that website.

The OS I'm going to run is going to be Windows 8.1 64 bit.

Thanks in advance!

Yea Windows 8.1 would probably have the drivers built into the system. In my experience unless its Windows 7 or Below some Generic drivers at least get installed for USB 3.0.

And a Hotfix is NOT a drive. Its just an update not the full deal.

Have you installed the Windows Updates yet? Maybe Win8 doesn't need USB 3.0 drivers because the update will auto install them. I noticed there are no USB3.0 drivers for any of the Win8 versions. As a last work-around, try the Win7 64 bit drivers.

Have you tried the ports to see if they might already work?

I have unfortunately not begun installing windows 8.1 and thus cannot test any 3.0 ports to make sure they work without driver installation, I just followed the newegg guide, and was really confused when no 3.0 drivers for 8.1 were available. I've only found one person who've said windows 8.1 doesn't need 3.0 drivers, but the website looked much like Wikihow, so wasn't sure whether to trust that information.

I have installed the hotfix for USB 3.0 that was available on Gigabytes website, do you think that would be enough?

I do know that the Hotfix is only to eliminate issues with the already in place drivers, but I was just wondering if nothing else but this hotfix was needed, if Windows 8.1 has the drivers pre-installed. Seems like that's the case. Thank you very much for your help!
