Hi guys, I'm new to the forum and I was wondering if I can get some advice from you guys. So to start off I'm currently upgrading my piece of doo doo PC, I'm quite new to the computing world and all this hardware stuff so bear with me here. So I currently have a garbage PSU which I'm upgrading and I've just purchased the Antec 520w High Current Gamer PSU and I'm also purchasing a ATI Radeon XFX 7870. Do you think my copmuter could handle the card with these specs? Oh and BTW I'm upgrading a Gateway computer (DX4840) lol, Yes I'm too lazy to build my own rig part by part.

Specs:

Intel Core i5 650 3.20GHz
6gb Ram
64 Bit Operating System

Current Card; AMD Radeon HD 5570 - Upgrading to ATI Radeon XFX 7870
Current PSU some random chinese or japanese brand that has 300w - Upgrading to Antec 520w.

Do you think with the upgraded PSU the Video Card can run at it's full potential? Will I burn out any other components in my CPU? Thanks for your time reading this lawlz. #Newbielife

Solution
if your board is not pci express 3 then the card will loose like 5% of the performance at max which is not so much and u can always upgrade to a new board later..
yes your card will be fine with your processor i would recommend 8 gigs of ram but 6 gb is also fine......and your psu is also good for running the card with the system...
But why buy the 7870? its a old card get the r9 270x instead its a re-branded version of 7870 and comes with some tweaks and higher clock speed....

Well I'm sort of getting a deal on the 7870 XFX, It was lightly used and I'm grabbing it for $200, Do you think it's worth it by any chance or should I just browse for a newer card of that value?

But my motherboard only allows me to use a card of PCI-Express not the Express 3.0 and I believe if I run a 3.0 Express card with my system, It won't be running at it's full potential am I right? Sorry, I'm a newbie :p
