Having troubles with my network. Internet comes in from fiber, to a Linksys E1200, then to a Netgear 5 port switch, and finally to a Netgear WNDR4000 router, which my PC is wired to. It all works well, until the Netgear router looses connection to the network, somewhat randomly.

I bought the Netgear router a few days ago to replace a Belkin router that did the same thing, in hopes that it was just the Belkin acting up.

It is a strange setup, I know. But it is the only way that will work for the time being. My personal network is part of a small business' network setup.

I just moved to town from the country, so my networking skills are limited.

The netgear is known for misbehaving like that.

I am wondering if your isp provider has any equipment at the place of your network and, I also find it strange that you have so little networking equipment (switches and routers) and you also have a router connected to a switch (going in the wrong direction) that to me sounds like it is incorrect. As simple as I can put, routers can transmit throughout the Internet but, most simple switches cannot transmit traffic beyond a local area network or simply put, your local business network. If you connect a switch between routers, that set up will most likely not work. I assume that the Linksys is a router and while it may work, connecting a router to a switch and then to another router and finally to a computer is not a good idea for a computer network.
