Replacing R9 270x with GTX 780 Ti

Well, in terms of single GPU graphics card, 780ti is king. With that being said, it doesn't offer very much more when compared to cards behind it in price other than a few extra % in performance. Also, what resolution will you be playing in? This matters. Buying a 780 ti for 1080p is an overkill and some. The R9 290 is a great card and awesome value and priced at $370 USD. 780 ti (650 USD) is only 13% better than 290 and costs 43 % more. AND yes, your psu is fine for 780ti.

It should fit. Your case support GPU up to 360mm or 14.1 inhes and I don't know of any card that is that long.

Technically it would, but that stupid soundcard has PCIe 1.0

Personally - I would keep the 270x and save your money, at least if most of your gaming is done at 1080P. But then again I tend to be cheap and have not paid over $300 for a GPU as the performance gains are much less than the additional cost.

If running at 1440P+ or multiple 1080P monitors - then I can see some real benefit in an upgrade.

well first off all let me tell you some bad things about this build. first of all the kingston v300 series ssd sucks its near hdd performance look it up. second that hdd is to slow a 7200rpm hdd 1tb cost 49$. second a . other that its good. crossfired r9 270's are stronger than a single gtx 780ti/r9 290x. another option is r9 290x because it has 4gb of vram for future games

yeah but in some resolutions, the 780 ti is better, but if you could afford it, go for a 780 ti

you really shouldnt waste your money on a 780ti a r9 290x is capable at all resolution especially the 4k area.

they are so close in performance especially with a overclock is 200-400$ more worth 2-7fps more

I don't really know the performance of refernce cards but I know that aftermarket ones are a beast and if you asked anyone, whether they could get a 780 ti or a r2 290x, they would choose the 780 ti,

well that is if you want to blow some money or if you want the best performance but are shy on spending tons of money a r9 290x or r9 290 would be a beast. now of course if you offered me a free 780ti well...

Which is why I said if he could afford it, to go for a 780 Ti :)

what you should be comparing is the GTX 780 vs the R9 290 and the GTX 780ti vs R9 290x. Your just misleading him. The gtx 780ti is stellar as a single GPU, and isn't really overkill for 1080p either. Yes the R9 290 would be a better buy if he were buying the GTX 780 but he's getting the 780ti and AMD cards have very high TDP regardless.

well cards this high regardless are going to have a tdp over 150w. r9 290=gtx 780 vs r9 290x = gtx 780ti the price difference for miniscule performance increase doesnt really make sense. a r9 290 or 290x would be a better performance/price. a gtx 780ti is 13%(from what i've heard) and 43% more expensive and from the link i posted

http://www.hardocp.com/article/2014/04/14/gigabyte_r9_290x_oc_asus_gtx_780_ti_dcuii_review/6#.U82fpY_C0jg

it shows that at higher res it can perform almost just as good so that 13% performance increase translates top 5fps difference in real life so basically 5fps=200-400$ more.

I disagree. I think anybody who buys 780ti and games at 1080p clearly make a mistake. I compared the 290 to 780ti since the performance gap between 780/290 and 780ti isn't much. I don't need to compared 780 and 290, I can choose to compare any two cards for the sack of augment. The tdp on amd cards are high but it's the only drawback to the high amd cards and anybody buying high end card isn't losing any sleep because of power consumption.

true most people buying high end cards usually have high end parts that need a 1000+ psu
