Hello, I have recently purchased a 240GB Corsair Force GS SSD and installed Windows 8.1 Pro on it and I am experiencing quite slow boot speeds despite everyone commenting on how fast this is.
My PC came with Windows 8 preloaded and had a bios speed of about 3.6 seconds, and took about 5 seconds to get into Windows. After installing the new SSD, and installing Windows from genuine HP Recovery Media I created, the bios time varies from 16-25 seconds, then would take about 5-7 seconds to get into Windows.
Surely the boot time should be much quicker than that, at least on par with a standard HDD.
Once in Windows it operates as it should in terms of speed, but the boot time is driving me crazy.
I installed this with no other HDD connected, I have changed the bios back so the Secure Boot and Fast Boot are enabled as before and disabled the Legacy Boot. I have also tried the SSD in all of my SATA ports to see if that made a difference, even though HP claim that all the SATA ports are 6GB/s.
I have tried moving this SSD in the boot order above the other HDD, I've even disabled the other HDD so it doesn't load until Windows starts which makes no difference. Even after unplugging all other media and the other HDD, the boot speed is still unaffected.
I have tried installing windows 7 on this SSD on the same PC and the boot speed is as expected, boots into Windows in about 8 seconds, but Windows 8.1 Pro seems to be struggling, and I would like to stay with Windows 8 rather that 7.
Can anyone help me solve this issue?
