hi, this problem i have with my brand new gigabyte r9 270x is driving me nuts. i bought this graphic card 3 days ago and i have correctly installed it in my PC case, i have installed the latest drivers and everything is working fine, until i wanted to try how it works with games. I was very disappointed with the results. I played GTA IV on medium settings with less than 25 FPS, and i see other people with the same graphic card and about the same powerful components as I, and they play it maxed out with 50+ FPS, i have the same problem with other games too. I checked my graphic card stats in AMD catalyst Control Center program and i ran a game and i saw that the activity bar for the graphic card didn't even go to 30%, but still the performance is very bad.

my components:

- AMD A6-5400K 4.30GHz
- Gigabyte Radeon r9 270x
- kingston HyperX DDR3 2x 4 GB 1600 MHz
- ASUS F2A85-V
- Corsair VS650, 650 W

Solution

Your pc is using his onboard graphics thats why your fps is bad. Install newest drivers from the manufacters website.
Or follow these steps:
1 -->Uninstall in device manager your VGA Adapter
2--> Restart PC
3--> Wait till Windows automatically updates the Adapter.

drivers are working properly, no viruses, hardware is working properly, card is not damaged, never overclocked.

Ok now do me a favor,
Go to control panel and open Device Manager, look then for video or graphics adapter.
Is there a yellow triangle under the name of the gpu which is r9 200 series or does it say VGA Adapter?

Do you have the LATEST drivers? Did you run an anti-malware scan?

There's probably an option in the BIOS that lets you pick the GPU/VGA to use. Mine has one...
