Hi, for about 1/2 months now I have been getting ping spikes while playing Counter Strike: Global Offensive, Dota 2 and Rust. I would go from about 50/60ms to 400ms then would decline back to 50/60 every 20 or so seconds. It would also happen when playing on the XBox 360. I would appreciate any help possible.

I use a B-LINK wireless dongle, and I also use the BT Home Hub 5.
Here is a speed test I done - http://prntscr.com/44j4u4

Kind Regards
- Matthew.

It's been happening since May, long before "summer break" and nobody else I know has this problem, so I don't think its "kids sucking on the internet resources" But thanks anyways.

Kind Regards

First thing you must try is to run for a while on a wired connection. Random performance spikes are very common on wireless and are the hardest to fix so you are best off being sure it is a wireless issue before you attempt to fix it.

You also have to be careful about what ingame "ping" things say. In most cases this is not actual ping it is some measurement they make using the game and server programs. Because of this it can be affected by things that are not network.

You best bet it so leave a constant ping running to something like 8.8.8.8 or 4.2.2.2 and then switch over when the game reports a issue to see if you also see the same issue in the cmd window. If you don't then you know the game is telling lies.

Thank you for the reply, this is the result of a ping test I done http://prntscr.com/457c5s

I will try using a wired connection, but that can't be a permanent solution as the router is a great distance away from my computer.

Kind Regards
