Okay here's the situation, at the moment I am playing Wildstar and loving it. I currently have an old low budget PC (it was low budget for when I built it) and its an AMD thats old so it gets terrible FPS.

I am currently on a budget again but this time I want an upgrade path. I am going to get a G3258 and overclock it to about 4.5 if I can keep it stable (have read its pretty east to get stable at 4.5). I will be within the year upgrading to an i5 4670K or better because I would eventually like to stream. Then when the G3258 is taken out of my board it will go to my son who plays WoW and it should run WoW phenomenally as its an Intell and Intel = better for WoW period.

My question is what board should I get? I think im supposed to get the Z97 series but I know NOTHING about Intel and I am really struggling here.

ANY suggestions would be great and I really appreciate the time that you community members put into your answers here.

Thanks in advance!

Anand had a great artice about the new Pentium and gaming, and the i3 won out by a good margin because of the hyperthreading if you have the budget for it.

Any of the z97 boards will support overclocking if you want to go with the G3258 though.

Depends on the motherboard you have. While I think "all" the Z87 motherboards can be updated to support the new haswell chips, a Z97 chipset has better support. The 4690k is just a bucks more costy than the 4670k but has better thermals and overclocking.
Other choice is just going for the non k chip that is cheaper.

Hyperthreading does nothing in Wildstar or WoW the primary use for this CPU. Wildstar only utilizes physical cores as does WoW. Id rather save the money for useless frills.

The point is it be able to play Wildstar while I wait a few months to be able to afford the 4670/90K i5.

**To all that reply** I'm really looking for brands and links to the MoBo's (newegg or amazon is fine Microcenter is out they dont ship). I am ususally an Asus fan but as stated I don't know anyhting about the new Bios's or the features that are offered between brands.
