Should we pay for UBUNTU and if-so how much! I protest you summarily closing that wonderfully flame-baited thread.
WE ALWAYS pay ... your first thermo-course (obviously not mine ...!) ought to have taught you that! RMS teaches lunacy ignoring opportunity costs of both lusr and dev in any venture! You always find T*dS > 0 no matter WHAT the units.
Some months ago I made a modest contribution to Canonical such that if every UBUNTU lusr made the same contribution Shuttlesworth would pick up his 2nd $,$$$,$$$,$$$.00 give-or-take. I favor that pay-to-play choice and imagine any aware & robust-thinking computer-user would also. Then, rightly judging his own best interests Shuttlesworth would multiply the beer-like freedom of his Linux variant and many of those providing support. Lusrland issues would be addressed at speed-of-light and RedHat would need return to writing Torvald-friendly software not branding the **ON** Linux button.
Or something like that.
