Overclocking i5-4670k to a decent freq

Hello I would like to overclock my i5-4670k to 4.2-4.3ghz. My system is as follows:
CPU: i5-4670k
Cooler: CM Hyper 212 Evo
GPU: Intel HD 4600 (until i get my r9-290)
Ram: G.SKill Sniper 8gb 1866
Mobo: ASRock z97 Extreme4

I have looked at the settings for my bios and i thought about OCing just didn't know what settings I can just ignore and what settings I need to change besides multiplier i would need to 42 or 43 ik that. And then the cache multi is supposed to be the same right? Can anyone give me some advice how to get this result?

  1. Sounds like you are pretty new to Overclocking... I watched this video when I was new to overclocking and it really helped me.
I suggest watching video on your mobile or tablet so that you can still RESTART your computer and enter the UEFI.

The UEFI used in the video will be very similar if not identical to your UEFI.
  2. yeah i am new to overclocking. Have never done it, I understand the basics just with the silicon lottery I wouldn't know how high I could go or whatnot. But I will try that video out in a lil bit I have to charge my tablet.

Here is a thread which tells you how to OC Intel Haswell CPUs: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-1722630/intel-god-quick-dirty-guide-4ghz-haswell.html

By using the advice in that thread I was able to OC my i5 4670 to 4.6 GHz. Highly recommended!

  4. What is the difference between doing it in A-Tuning vs UEFI?
  5. Yogi I used that thread and got it stable at 4.4ghz @ 1.212v. My temps on Maximum for IBT for 20 runs was 82 max avg around 65 idle is 35-40c are these ok temps?
  6. During gaming (Civ 5 and Gw2) it never went about 62
  7. Yes. Your OC temps are fine.
