I am set on these two cards so far. I do not know if my Motherboard and CPU are good for OC or maybe the GPU comes already OC but here is my Motherboard and CPU. I was wondering what one would be best for games such as Skyrim with many mods, ultra settings, and such?

The R9-280 is a bit better. Your MB and CPU is fine, but what about your PSU?

The R9 280 is the superior card. While carrying less RAM it has a faster GPU and larger processing pipeline.

(That comparison is against the 2GB R9 270x, but will indicate framerate you can expect for Skyrim before mods)...

We're talking an actual framerate difference of maybe 3-5 FPS, but a difference is a difference.

Depending on how many mods you throw at it you're looking at around 60-75 FPS with that card. 75 FPS without mods, with Hi-res texture pack and at 1920x1080 resolution... as per the Graphics Card review I linked.

You'll have no problem at 1080p resolutions playing at max settings.

Depends which mods. I can run Skyrim with the Grim and Somber ENB on an R9 270 (which is a fair bit worse than a 280) at pretty good framerates, you should be fine, also I have a fx 6300 and you have a pretty good i5, Skyrim is pretty CPU dependent and Intel far outperforms AMD in Skyrim, you will be able to run Skyrim very well.

The R9 280 is better in every way and your setup will easily support it.
