I currently run an amd fx 8350 with 16gb ram and a gtx 760 2gb. When playing normally my fps is great and the pc is insane, however I have recently become a full time streamer and am in need of some better specs. Im going ahead and ordering an i5 4670k with a new motherboard so I can stream without lag. I was wondering if it is as simple as installing the new parts and then reinstalling windows?? or is there something im missing?

err download is 40 mbps and upload is 60mbps and I set the bitrate to 3500 and have the fps on 40. it streams league of legends like a beauty but games such as cs:go is when it gets tricky + I was thinking of moving to intel just to future proof my pc anyway and the motherboard I have at the moment is awful!!

OBS, Yeah I know I think its my hardware, my mobo is awful and my psu has awful reviews! Im getting my new cpu cooler fitted tommorow aswell so maybe that will help!! but yeah I think its my hardware, not sure though, the stream quality is great but I tend to get around 10 fps drops in cs:go for example

Ya, you can't play games and live stream with a FX 8350. Just do a search... there are many complain threads.

You may have problem with the Windows OS license thou. "System builder" copies are typically it's "tied" to the motherboard. So you may have to buy a new license, unless you have a retail version.

Latest complain about live streaming I read was one newegg.com (check the July 11th post), from a verified owner that had enough and was going to Intel as well. But overall options are good, as the FX chips are inexpensive. So they are good for kids or people with little extra money.

CS GO Isn't a very intensive game at all, you didn't mention your GPU but the FX 8350 will perform very well on it, I have a R9 270 + a weaker FX 6300 and I get around 200-300fps in CS GO, with my GPU and CPU both staying at around %60-70.

Absolutely do not believe that! Gaming magazines are warning people in print now, not to buy FX "8 core" chips(for gaming applications)! And you won't find them recommended at Tom's. In many games an i3 can really beat up on a 8350. And an i5 is in another tier high above.
Please research or at least follow Tom's guide!

Last I knew, the FX83xx series were very, very good at streaming (X split). Generally much better than the i7 3770 was. So wouldn't that make a new i5 slower or equal to the 8350 in those situations?

And in many games the 8350 beats up on $1000 i7s. It is 100% game dependent. Sorry. Don't believe everything you read in a magazine. Here at toms we do recommend the 8350 and all AMD CPUs. Almost half of us Moderators actually use the FX CPUs in our personal builds.

Also, that hierarchy chart means NOTHING for gaming. Sorry, that chart really holds no value in this conversation.

It says RIGHT ON THE PAGE WITH THE CHART: "You can use this hierarchy to compare the pricing between two processors, to see which one is a better deal, and also to determine if an upgrade is worthwhile. I don’t recommend upgrading your CPU unless the potential replacement is at least three tiers higher. Otherwise, the upgrade is somewhat parallel and you may not notice a worthwhile difference in game performance."

You clearly did not read the whole review.

I see you a moderator, but I think you over reacted to my post. I would serious not recommend anyone buy 2012 AMD technology in 2014.

Correct, The FX series LOVES X split and WAY outperforms Intel. This is why I wold OP to try a different program.

I see you are making rash generalizations. The Haswell CPUs launched in Q1 of 2013 and they are only VERY marginally different from the Ivy Bridge CPUs of early 2012. There is no reason to say what you said. The Haswell Refresh CPUs are basically just as old as the FX series. The architecture has not really changed at all.

Ya, the FX chips refresh on the failed "bulldozer" arch(VERY marginally different)? But those were dark days at AMD, the share price collapsed and the company almost went under. They lost thousands of employees and now rent their old buildings. FM2 and APU's are the future for them. The enthusiast was abandoned, along with AM3.

AMD Phenom II X6 Black, 1100T
The good old days:)

Anyway, I'm tapping out before I get kicked out. If half of Tom's really run FX chips, I'm out numbered. Although not "out gunned" I suppose...

But I'm here to help, not fight.
