Hi there,

I am looking at upgrading from a EVGA GTX 660ti to something along the lines of a 770 card or would it be better to run SLI or even go for broke with a 780 card? (running with a 550w antec psu)
so whats the best option and would i need to upgrade my psu?

I'd say a single card is your best option. SLI might seem cost-effective but there are a number of bugs associated with it. I usually only recommend SLI to the highest of the high-end enthusiasts who absolutely must run the latest GPUs in tandem.

For a GeForce 770 or 780 GTX you'd be looking at a 600w or higher PSU.

Here's a rough guide. Keep in mind the more components in your system (Hard Drives, etc.) the higher the power drain on the +12v rail of your PSU.
