I am a first time builder and recently built a pc for gaming with the specs:

Motherboard: MSI z87-g41 pc mate
GPU: MSI GTX 760 4GB
cpu: intel core i5-4570 ( using stock cooler)
Ram: Corsair vengence 8gb
HDD: WD 1TB
SSD: Kingston v300 120gb
Case : Fractal design define r4
PSU: Corsair cx600 600W

I first conducted an external build, where it didnt take long until i had all cables and components installed. When it came to switching it on, i would get no response on my monitor, no post beep, but all the fans would start spinning. Initially, i had used an HDMI cable. Instead of the HDMI cable being plugged into the GPU, i then tried putting it into the motherboards HDMI port, and still no response in the form of a post beep. Then, i changed the HDMI to an VGA cable with an DVI out, which i plugged into my GPU. Fan started spining when i turned it on, and this time i did get a prompt to enter the bios. I must add that i seperately bought speakers for my motherboard, and even with the bios prompt i still didn't get a post beep.

I have checked the manual and i am sure that i am using the correct pins. Also, if i invert the speaker the entire system doesn't start up. Not sure why

My question is, Do you think there is a problem with the gpu's HDMI port, or the cable itself, which does work with my ps3, however is very unreliable and sensitive.
Secondly, does the fact that i didnt get a post beep bad for my motherboard and system even if i can access bios and can see that my cpu, ram and HDDs have been read.

Thanks,

I tried both the HDMI ports on my GPU and the on board graphics on my motherboard, neither work.
On the POST beep, i have bought around 30 speaker and the 3 that i have tried do not produce a sound. My questions is, what is the significance of that POST beep and what are the consequences if i didn't get one?
