How does 5.1 sound work?

Hi, I want to buy a motherboard "Asrock h81m dgs" and it says it has 5.1 sound but only one audio input. I really like my music so now I was wandering how will my 5.1 speakers "Logic" with three different cables work on a motherboard that has only one input?

If the motherboard specifies that it has 5.1 surround sound... it WILL NOT have one audio output.
It should have the following audio outputs:
1. Center Speaker
2. Left Speaker
3. Right Speaker
4. Left Surround
5. Right Surround
6. Sub

That was what I thought too but, on the asrock website it says and I quote "◾5.1 CH HD Audio (Realtek ALC662 Audio Codec)" but in the pictures it is only the green Aux in, Pink for the mike and a other blue input? Can you help me understand? http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/H81M-DGS/
