dropped laptop with usb attached, now I cannot retrieve data due to physical damage, what do i do?

If it was an external hard drive, you can try to remove the drive from the enclosure, place it into another one and try again. If it was a USB flash drive, it may be fixable, look for a computer shop around you that knows how to replace the USB connections.

If nothing you tried locally works, there are some data recovery companies that can get the data out just about anything but it will cost you.
