I am running an i5 3570k cpu with a Asus Maximus v formula motherboard.

For some reason when I hook my computer up, it gives me 4 short beeps and won't start up fully. I took my cpu out of my other computer and placed it into the computer that's currently giving me problems. It worked. However, when I use the "defective" cpu in a different computer, it gives the same problems. It does 4 beeps, no results. I thought it was an actual defective cpu so I sent it back to NewEgg for an exchange. I received my new one today and it's doing the same thing. Why do you think this is? What should I do? Thank you in advance.

Asus's post code stuff is here
http://support.asus.com/Troubleshooting/detail.aspx?SLa...
But its hard to say without seeing the CPU or motherboard. Have you checked for any damaged contacts on the board? Also whats the bios revision on the Maximus? You need at least revision 0221 to run that CPU.

when the beeps appears, it means some hardware problem... on my first thought the motherboard seems so noticeable ..
troubleshoot the hard drive, 2nd the memory, lastly the CPU.. what did you see when the computer start?

If this helps any, I took that CPU the i5-3570K, put it into my wife's computer, and it was acting weird made me think it was a bad cpu, then I started to think wait wait, its because her PSU is only 500 wats, so I put it into my brother computer, and it booted up no problem. So I took my wife's cpu 2500k I think, put it into my computer and it booted up no problem all my shit was working, so nothing in my computer is wrong, or my CPU I bought. Somehow its just not reading it and its compatibility with it. "PS Sorry for my horrible grammar."

yeah right.. you have to choose the compatibility of your CPU to your motherboard..or else it wont work.. search your motherboard's model and you can see which CPU you have to select before buying one.. :)  hope yo understand.

Lol, this offended me, =] I build computers I know its compatibility, cause it says it on on the official site, i5-3570k and ASUS MAXIMUMS FORMULA V. I DO know what i'm talking about its just that I need someones knowledge because I've never ran into this problem before I think its something to do with resetting my bios on my MOBO or taking battery out or something its not reading it, it works in my brother computer and my wife's computer, both of them have the same socket-ed MOBO as the one i have, and there all 3 compatibility with the CPU.
