So I have an 7770 HD 2gb for my PC and I was wondering if I should get the AMD A10-5800K (100W) - 2M/4T, 3.8 GHz, 4MB L2 or the Intel Core i5 4690 (84W) - 4C/4T, 3.5 GHz, 1MB L2, 6MB L3. This is a PC only for gaming, no video editing or any of that stuff.

Solution
The A10 is better in graphics rendering when used WITHOUT a dedicated graphics card, like the HD7770 you have, WITH a dedicated graphics card however the A10s internal graphics does not do anything.

Well, the i5-4690, especially the overclocked version, would be my choice if you already have a discrete GPU because of its processing power. But isn't the HD7770 able to Crossfire with an A10? Then you would have more reason to ponder over the AMD.

Im not sure if it can crossfire, but let's forget about the A10 if the i5 is much better. What's the difference between the 4690k and the 4690?

No, it can not.

The K is overclockable

Okay cool. So the i5 4960 would be much better with my graphics card than the A10? Do you recommend the 4960k or the normal.

The 4690K if you have the interest, setup, and skill to possibly raise it up to 4.5 GHz sooner or later on. It can be significantly faster if you overclock.

The standard version if you don't know how or don't want to.

I'm leaning toward the K version though. Just because you have the capability to overclock doesn't mean you need to do it right away. It's an option for boosting a PC as it ages.

Fully agree on this. Also, for a 30€ investigation on a fairly stong air cooler, you will get a pretty high performance increase on a really easy overclock of ~4.4ghz. Basically all you would need to do for it is increasing the multiplicator, turning off turbo mode and putting vcore voltage a tad higher (around 1.2-1.25v should be enough). This will also be nice for your ears as the stock cooler is really loud compared to custom one's. :)
