I'm planning on fixing G10s to two MSI R9 290 Gaming 4G cards and I had a couple of questions..

1. Would I still be able to use the backplate that originally came with the cards?

2. Could I swap the included fan on the G10 for a larger one? If so, how much larger?

3. Do I need specific heatsinks for the VRMs and RAM? If so, what should I be looking for? (I'm in the UK)

4. Is there a way to attach the heatsinks that isn't permanent?

5. Any recommendations on 140 or 240mm AIOs?

Thanks

See http://www.anandtech.com/show/7719/nzxt-kraken-g10-revi...

What cooler are you using it with?

1. I think you have to use the same backplate. The G10 is just a bracket that sits on top.
2. Its a 92mm fan. Any other 92mm fan would fit. But not any differnt size.
3. I don't think it comes with heat sinks. If your card doesn't have them already, you can buy some.
4. I don't think any of them are permanent.
5. See the link -

Thanks

I haven't decided on a cooler yet but I'm going to research the ones you listed and check compatibility with the cases I'm choosing between. I was considering the X41 or H100i/105 because pricing (at least on scan.co.uk) is very similar.

In your opinion, do you think the added cost of a 240mm AIO vs a 140 is worth it? Obviously not including the 3 I mentioned above

And is it only 92mm fans max?

Can I just get any aluminium/copper heatsinks or do they need to be certain sizes? And the reason I ask about a non-permanent way of attaching them is because I saw a video of someone in a similar position with a 290 and a G10 and he claimed than using thermal tape or another method that DIDN'T involve thermal glue would result in the heatsinks eventually falling off

My list of coolers is from the spec - http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_i...

In my opinion, I'd just leave the graphics card as is unless it was one of those horrible reference models that first came out.

All that fit it is 92mm fans. Bigger ones just won't fit - no mounting holes.

Aluminium heatsinks eg http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_i...

I haven't used them, so I don't know how well they'll stick on. Google reviews.

Ok, thanks for that. Leaving the GPUs as they are isn't an option anymore. They simply generate way too much heat. I don't like having to turn off crossfire or not play heavy games just because it's summer lol

Anyway thanks again
