My computer is Toshiba satellite m645- s4050, its laptop.

When I turn my computer on the power lamp is working and I can hear the computer noises but only I see is this " _ " blanking on top left corner and after a minute it disapperes and nothing happens.
How can I reset my computer in this situation? It doesn't show any menues or something else.

Ty for your help

If you can get past the Toshiba logo when you power on, could be as simple as a corrupt boot sector or OS.

To do a full factory restore, wiping everything ..

1. With the power off, press and hold the <0> (zero) key until you see "HDDRecovery..." down in the bottom left hand corner of the screen, then release the key and it will boot to the recovery menu.

2. Power on the machine and then press and hold the <F8> key. It should highlight a "Repair...", hit <ENTER> and follow the prompts. Eventually you will get to a menu. Select "TOSHIBA Recovery Wizard" to restore the machine.

If you don't get any of this, good chance the HDD is dead, hope you created a set of recovery DVD's when you where prompted ?

If less than a year old, RMA back to seller/Toshiba.
